Ryan and I enjoyed a trip to sunny Austin mid-February to visit Andy & Jill and explore the area. This was our first extended time away from the kids. We spent two nights away in July, but "away" is relative because we only went to Redmond (20 minutes away)! This time we were really gone, for five full days; it was hard to be away from our sweet kiddos for that long, but the couple time was invaluable! So much uninterrupted conversation and time to relax together; what a blessing! Needless to say, we were thrilled to soak up some sunshine!!

It's really funny how your perspective on weather is totally relative to what you're accustomed to; we were the only people walking around in short and tee shirts!
We had some really incredible food, including some authentic Texas barbecue. If you're a fan of the show
Man vs. Food, you may have heard of
The Salt Lick in nearby Driftwood;
the place to go for authentic Texas Hill Country barbecue. If you're ever in the Austin area, we definitely recommend you take the time to drive out to this highly-recommended (by locals) barbecue pit...the food (specifically their beef briskett) is truly
amazing!!

There were some beautiful sights, and great weather in which to enjoy them!

Of course, you're likely to find a few quirks in in any city!

We had a great time together, and are grateful for the hospitality we received from Andy and Jill!
